SUMMARY
In this flamboyant melodrama, an orphan is seduced by a naval officer who, full of remorse, sends her to his mother, a music hall star in Paris. The poor girl discovers the grim reality of the capital. She slowly sinks into the lower depths, from chorine to bar hostess. The officer tries to find here. He clashes with his mother, who will stop at nothing to keep her son, even passing off the Snail, a broken-down, drunken aristocrat, as his long lost father. But the Snail finds in this moving story of two lovers the chance to regain his prestige. It all ends with a wedding. |
