SUMMARY
The bulky, taciturn, alcoholic Nicolas learns at the death of his wife that she had been unfaithful to him. Worse, little Lisa is not his daughter but that of his friend Michel, once a dandy, now old and sick. Nicolas pursues Michel with his hatred, letting him only suppose he knows all. |
