SUMMARY
In 1858, Henri Dunant, a Swiss, has problems running his colonial business. He decides to appeal directly to Emperor Napoleon III, who is conducting his Italian campaign. On the tragic battlefield of Solferino, he witnesses so much suffering that he forgets the original purpose of his trip and begins to nurse the injured, be they French, Italian or Austrian. Dunant is so affected that he vows to found a permanent organization to assist wounded soldiers all over the world... After several years of effort, Dunant succeeds in winning the participation of 14 nations in 1863, whose delegates, meeting in Geneva, lay the foundations for the International Red Cross.
