SUMMARY
We see two different moments in the life of the Virgin Mary, represented in two very different styles: her birth, depicted by LE NAIN, a painting in the French style, and her death, in a work by an anonymous German painter. The film takes these two visual extremes then explores a great many other artists’ renderings, to seek out elements that might help to give as realistic a picture of Jesus' mother as possible.
