SUMMARY
Catherine Hubscher, a laundress in 1792, had saved an Austrian nobleman, Count von Neipperg. with the help of her betrothed Sergeant Lefebvre. Years later, Lefebvre has become a Marshal of France and Duke of Dantzig. He has married Catherine, nicknamed Madame Carefree because of her forthrightness and her acid tongue. |
